Apostille and Legalisation Services in Manchester
KG Notary Public provides paper-based apostille and document legalisation services in Manchester for individuals and businesses sending documents overseas.
Depending on the destination country and receiving authority, your document may require notarisation, a paper apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, or further legalisation through an embassy or consulate.
Requirements vary between countries and document types. Before proceeding, please send us the document, the destination country and any instructions received from your overseas lawyer or receiving organisation. We will explain the likely process, available service options, fees and timescale.
Please note: We provide paper-based apostille services only.
An apostille is an official certificate issued by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. It confirms the authenticity of the signature, seal or stamp appearing on a UK public document.
A paper apostille is physically attached to the original or certified document. It may be required when the document is being presented in a country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.
Common documents requiring a paper apostille include:
Powers of attorney
Birth, marriage and death certificates
Certified passport and identification copies
Educational and professional certificates
Affidavits and statutory declarations
Court and police documents
Companies House documents
Corporate powers of attorney and board resolutions
Documents relating to overseas property or inheritance
Some documents can be apostilled directly. Other documents must first be certified or notarised by a UK notary or another recognised public official.
The person or organisation receiving your document should confirm whether it requires:
Notarisation only
A paper apostille
A separate apostille for each document
One apostille covering a group of documents
An apostille followed by embassy or consular legalisation
What is an Apostille?
If your document requires an apostille, you can choose between the following options.
Option 1: Apply directly to the FCDO
You can submit your paper apostille application through the official GOV.UK legalisation service.
FCDO fee: £45 per document
Courier or postage costs are additional
Processing time: usually up to 25 working days, plus delivery time
The current processing estimate will be displayed when you apply
You will be responsible for completing the application, sending the documents to the FCDO and arranging their return.
Option 2: Use our consular-agent apostille service
We can arrange the apostille through our consular agent and manage the process for you.
Fee: £120 including VAT per apostille
DHL delivery to a UK address: within four working days of your appointment
Collection from our Manchester office: within five working days
Optional international DHL delivery: an additional £75 including VAT
Please allow approximately one or two additional working days for international DHL delivery
These timescales apply where the document is eligible for legalisation and no additional verification is required. The process may take longer if the FCDO needs to verify a signature, seal or other information.
FCDO fees, eligibility requirements and processing times can change. Current information should always be checked before an application is submitted.
